Having greatness, what is "greatness" and how do we acquire it? What makes one person "great" and not another person? Does greatness come with monetary success or acquiring fame? Who determines whether someone can be called "great" and not someone else? Is there anyone who deserves this title as being great as we call the Almighty G-d great, can a human mortal assume the same description as The Almighty G-d we call Great?
Greatness comes with having a dream, finding a purpose, a calling in life, and not giving up with this intention, but to practice the steps necessary to accomplish your dream in life and never to give up. Greatness comes with having an impairment of body or mind and even with this as an obstacle to achieving success, you become a success and overcome the limits that this impairment is said to cause. Having only one leg, but being able with this one leg to climb Mount Sinai. To meet G-d person to person, when others tell you this is impossible, but indeed you met Him standing on one leg on Mount Sinai, and since this has occurred for you and not for others, you have the obligation to share this experience with others.
Can it be considered "great" to have a religious "experience" or a religious "occurrence" in your life. There is said to be saints and prophets, and false prophets, and to attach insanity to people's religious experiences. To then need a college degree as a Rabbi so you are not called insane for your religious experiences. To must be promoted to Priest before you can talk of your love for G-d.
It is "great" that a person simply remains alive and can continue a faith in G-d and to have a daily occurrence of peace as his reward. Obtaining personal peace and a happiness with one's existence however it may be, is a "great" accomplishment. Feeling this peace and spreading it around in your chosen mode of self expression, so others can feel this peace you have, is a really great successful occupation. To do it without a title, as a lay person, a person who has this peace without a diploma that says he has peace, is an incredible accomplishment!
Being a peacemaker, whether it is a political achievement in national politics, or just as a peacemaker in your family and in your neighborhood, to have love for your loved ones, and to feel at peace with them, this is what can truly be termed as "great."
