Donations To Charity

Are you thinking, hemming and hawing, postponing, letting time lapse, putting off, not doing it, avoiding, regretting, deciding to be selfish--and NOT donating to your Synagogue??? Why are you putting it off when it is the one and only way to make yourself feel good, to feel great!!! Even if you only donate a small amount every now and then, donate what you want to, when you want to, this is the one and only expense that will go to a good cause. The donations to the poor that the Shul needs to have to keep up the building expenses, the taxes on the property, the incomes of the clergy and office staff--you expect support from them, but do YOU give them support in return? Are you cutting corners and saying you need to purchase winter gifts, because Christians are going to be buying you Xmas gifts, even though you do not celebrate Xmas and you are not a Christian, you are Jewish?

Don't let the winter gift buying hype put a halt to your donations to your Synagogues. We do not have to save extra money in December so the donation amount does not have to be cut. Donate freely. The Torah says that the best way to do Teshuvah is to donate to charity. December is the best month to donate to your Shul. Reach into your pockets and do something right with your money, do something that takes guts, donate during Xmas time. This is the time when the donations are needed the most. Keep thinking of your Levite and Kohayne Priests and Rabbis who make your world a world worth living in now and for the rest of the year, year round. Keep donating and increase the amount around the winter holidays, and send it to the most ethical place you can think of: your Jewish religious locations--your Shuls.
