Sleepwalking and Star Gazing

Hands rough and cracked from seasons of wintry blasts without moisture. Long tefillin leather keeps the cracks from spreading to my spirit and impairing my devotion to God. Binding up lines in my  hands with lines of leather straps that tell a story that was 5775 years in the making. Clean hands, clean heart and clean mind and clean spirit. So clean one does not need soap. Just pouring a cup 3 times up to the wrist with rotations from hand to hand--water cleanses.

Writing and talking and talking and writing--from right to left and from back to front. Books seem lighter and lighter--ease in handling and turning pages to get the true meanings of words with the corresponding Hebrew. Transliterations not necessary anymore--slow chanting, every vowel is pronounced slowly but surely. No need to give a show--the Hebrew sings itself right off the pages--just needs a glance--the word Adonai appears everywhere like a real true Friend. As long as that word is visible--the story will unfold like a postal letter from God.

Hats and scarves and kippot and berets: all lining up on closet racks to take turns with the colors in my vestments. A tallit to match every outfit. But check the tzitzit in case it needs repair--cannot be torn or matted! Tallit katans under shirts and blouses--always in fashion. Statements to express holiness not clothing designs. Priestly garments to guard oneself of evil intention and to always keep the 613 under one's belt. Having a creative streak to tweak holiness from all things. Candles burning to the east and to the west.

There will be a new moon and a north wind. Will be awake to see it.
