Having a goal, what kind of a goal? To become rich? To have a large family? To buy a new car? To get a new job? To buy a new couch? To get a promotion? What kind of goals to have that are goals of improvement? To buy new tires for your car? To travel around the world?
A goal to have that is a great goal. What goal would be considered great?
The goal of greatness being set as a good example to follow by our Prophetess Miriam in The Torah is the goal to reach the old age of 122!
How great it is to have the goal of longevity! To be so good to yourself, to have so much nurturing from others and also from yourself to live a long life. To be alive to see the day in the future of the births of your grandchildren and even your great grandchildren!
Yes, longevity is a great goal to have. It is not a goal like getting a job or publishing your own book, it is a goal that takes daily work combined with rest, to be so good to yourself that you wake up again and again every day continually, getting older and older, and loving each new day with renewed appreciation to G-d Who is giving you an extended life.
Having a good life, a life that has meaning both to yourself and others. Having a life that counts, a life that helps other's lives, to be here on Earth for a good reason, and to have each day continue into another day yet again.
A life of greatness, a life of longevity! This is a great goal, from day to day, to live again and again, one day at a time, to take each day as it comes, to every day stay alive to see a new day, a new sunrise, a new sunset....
To have the goal of the greatness of a long life!
