HUMILITY AND MODESTY ENHANCE HUMAN DIGNITY

"Humility and modesty enhance human dignity."

Humility and modesty does not mean that you sit in the back of a room or talk down about yourself and it does not mean to not have confidence or pride in your accomplishments. It means to sit taller and to speak louder and to be more active in achieving whatever goals you set for yourself whether others believe in you and what you are doing or not.

Having self-pride does not mean you are arrogant. Belittling yourself does not mean you are humble.

Taking a smaller uncomfortable chair and giving a larger comfy chair to an elder or to the disabled is humility. This act of generosity enhances the human dignity of the elder or disabled so he feels nobler, more esteemed, and like he has self-worth because you acknowledge this in him.

To say to a person that "they cannot do it" does not enhance their dignity but rather destroys it. To compliment another in what he is able to accomplish is to enhance their human dignity. To show someone approval does not put you in second seat and them in front of you. It instead unifies people together as a community where everyone in the community is a vital contributing force.

To give someone the benefit of the doubt, to not always talk about only yourself, and to be there for others when they need you. These are acts of humility and modesty that enhances world human dignity.
