REALISM VS. FANTASY

Kicking through yellow leaves, old trees exploding like fireworks on an autumn day. Raining wetness coating the sidewalks with watered slipperiness, gliding sliding to home base when life is not a baseball game. Taking the gorgeous glow out of a candle to see its flame as hot and potentially dangerous. Carrying a copy of The Torah including Psalms as one's weapon, protection to take into all places, a gun that has no bullets, a squirt gun to cool off offenders' wrathful attempts to destroy.

Seeking a quiet place to study, a place of solitude, a place of learning, a place to teach as well as learn. A place where no one causes trouble, an even road ahead with no bumps or curves, no obstacles in the way. A place where the bad is accepted and acknowledged along with the good. A place where no one pretends. A place where things are seen as they actually are, with no coloring, no attempts to make life prettier than it actually is.

Honesty and truthfulness, not fantasy. Rain seen as rain that gets you wet and cold, not seen as manna pouring from the sky as a treat to eat. Goodness not to be confused with material wealth or material sustenance, goodness seen as mitzvoth, the actions people take to better the lives of others.
