My White Umbrella Will Be A Halo Over My Head

Given a gorgeous gift of a Monet painting on an umbrella, lost it in the wind on a snowy day, a Monet is an idol. God took this painting away from me and destroyed it, just my luck. Green luck, but not Irish, guided and protected by chance, chance being a blessing, no magic, no superstition, just a blessing, no more idol.

A black umbrella purchased secondhand. Prongs bursting forth through black polyester, tattered on ends, broken, used, tossed away, garbage. Dry on a wet day, fulfilled its prophesy, a lifetime of dryness. Walked to the mailbox only once in the rain, then feverish, never again.

End of story: a white wedding umbrella purchased brand new! Bought one too big, changed order, shipped USPS and coming soon on airplanes/trains, delivered to my door. Seller knew the value of its product and charged my debit card double, twice the amount advertised. Bank dispute, book error corrected, umbrella will be here on Tuesday. A white umbrella, not a painting, not black, instead pure white. Whiter and purer than sunlight, rainwater or snow. Not black, not an image idol.

Will be dancing in the rain to my Shul in an all-white umbrella! A wish come true! Dancing in the rain! La, la, la...! Protected as an angel with a white halo around my head. Rain, rain go away, come back another day... but if you won't?  My halo will be in place.
