"Boker Tov: Boker Or" [Good Morning: Morning Light]

In the morning it becomes a God morning as God is good and it is a good God morning. “Modeh Ani” is the first thing--first prayer--which connects me with Him before my feet touch the ground from the bed.  Then “Shema,” right after “Modeh Ani.” Boker tov, boker or. [Good morning, morning light.] This connects me immediately with the holy, relieving me of any residual disturbing dream states. No uncovered water in my room last night--no water at all--no demons. No nighttime monsters--all stayed under the bed. Baruch Atah Adonai--kissed tzitzit and slipped tallit katan over my head. A hot kosher breakfast awaits me on the table. “Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melekh ha-olam, ha-motzi lechem min ha-aretz.”
