Does he brew your coffee? Hebrew? A solid rock stoneware of a coffee cup, white on the inside, black on the outside, never dropped, never broken, it's unbreakable? It is? Did you ever try to break it!
Moses threw smashed the Ten Commandments on their Tablets unto the ground splitting them into shards, many small gruff pieces. He also smashed a rock with his staff, to cause water to flow forth. There was no water after the death of Miriam, God told Moses not to strike the rock, that He, God Himself will provide all enough of the water. But Moses did not listen. Soon afterwards, Moses died, was buried in Moab somewhere, no one is sure where, Moses never saw the Promised Land.
Moses had a non-Jewish Father-in-law Jethro, Moses married a Kushite wife, Zipporah, [her Father was Jethro]. Despite the Jewish rule to only marry within one's tribe, Moses married Zipporah who was not Jewish. Pinchas, they claimed was a Prophet who was honored for killing a couple: a man was Jewish with his lover who was not. Miriam was said to have gossiped about her brother Moses and she was then excommunicated from the camp, diseased with Leprosy, and died.
They came before us to pave the way, a journey through a desert we never had to take, a hike into above on Mount Sinai, Tablets smashed then re-created.
Our hero never to step foot in The Promised Land. His sister who did not either. To follow in the footsteps of these Prophets? There are some occurrences to mimic and some not.
The mentor? Who shall be our Mentor? Why, God of course.
